Movie Player was included with QuickTime 2.5, but works with any version of QuickTime, including QuickTime 5 for Mac OS 7.6. It was replaced by QuickTime Player in QuickTime 3. Movie Player 2 contains most of the "Pro" features of later versions of QuickTime Player, but is free. Another benefit of Movie Player 2 is the fact that it is very lightweight in terms of system resources, and has a very compact interface that takes up much less screen space than the skinned players of QuickTime 4 and 5.
